Summerhill Secrets Book Review

I recently read a book series titled Summerhill Secrets by Beverly Lewis.  In the books, Merry who is in her mid-teens, deals with the long past tragedy in her family’s life, the death of her beloved twin sister Faithie.  Merry is usually an energetic, fun-loving girl.  But, since the death of her sister, she has hidden her grief from everyone, even her closest friends and family. While Faithie was only seven when she died, Merry hasn’t allowed anyone to be as close to her as her sister was.  She eventually learns to completely trust in God to help her with every circumstance  

Another aspect of the books you might find interesting is Merry’s constant inside battle between two boys.  She has always known fun-loving Levi Zook, her Amish neighbor, but he is too old for her in her parent’s eyes.  There is also Jonathan Klein, Merry’s other long-time friend.  The only problem is that Jon just doesn’t feel the same way for Merry as she does for him.  He is constantly being distracted by other pretty girls, mainly Merrys’ own close friends.  This causes Merry to distance herself from certain friends at certain times.

Another huge interest of Merry’s is her love of photography.  She never leaves the house without her camera.  Throughout the books, her talent comes in handy such as taking wedding photos, recording possible crime scenes, and much more.

One reason I liked Summerhill Secrets is because it reminded me of this verse.

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
